Runs
Auckland July, 2008 We really need to order some better w
eather
for these oval runs as this year was another shocker. We had 6 people and
2 cars at the run (including Tony from Christchurch). Given the weather we
went straight down to the pub and had some great Belgium beer and
sausages.

It
was good to see some hardy souls brave the weather. We had 10 people and
three ovals meet under the harbour bridge. Our convoy took us to St
Heliers and then up to the Gables for lunch.
Auckland September, 2005

Francis
organised this years run. They headed to the Cheese factory in Puhoi and
on to a vineyard at Matakana for afternoon tea.

Independence Day, 2004

Eight cars turned up
this year including three ovals and a split at Model World in Hobsonville.
‘Racing’ up the Albany Hill was funny. Andrew ‘lit the wick’ of his car
and Francis and Gary had a drag race between their 52 and 54. This was
racing but not like you would see at a track! Icecream's followed at
Coatsville and then we went to Muriwai. Lunch was in the nice old Kauri
Gum cafe at Riverhead.

Seven
Ovals turned up including a 1954 Beetle Cabriolet at Model World in
Hobsonville. We headed into Pt Chevalier and along the
peninsular to Coyle
Park. It was important that I checked that the lawns had been mowed! Then
it was off to the Gables for lunch. Strangely, they had the potential to
dispense Irish Beer from taps.

Four Ovals
met at Mechanics Bay. It was an excellent day to be inside reading a book
or watching a movie but
not great for a car run. We headed along the bays
to St Heliers and then up the cliff
(along the road).
The convoy
continued back the way we had come and over the harbour bridge. We proceeded to
Birkenhead and the sugar refinery reserve at the bottom of the hill and on
to then to the Refinery Café for lunch.

Seven ovals
turned up (including an oval sunroof). This years run was up to the cheese
factory at Puhoi. It is an interesting location
where you can watch cheese makers in the factory as you eat in the café. Some of us headed to Waiwera
after lunch to soak in the
pools and then to Francis’s for a BBQ.

Eight Ovals
turned up,
(okay two were mine!) outside Whenuapai Airbase on our first run, with
Laurie and Steve Hennum making the trip all the way from Tauranga. We were
off to Helensville to
the hot
pools.
We had a bit of
an incident on the
way, with an
oval losing
a wheel. It was lucky given what happened that there wasn’t any serious
damage. A great
day was had by all and it continued into the evening as we headed back to
Francis’s
for a BBQ.
